Get Involved with ICE 2009.... Volunteer!
Volunteers are essential to the success of ICE 2009. If you are involved in Edmonton's IT community and would like to be a part of the energy at ICE, join us! Students are especially encouraged to volunteer; participating in ICE 2009 means access to dozens of engaging speakers and opportunities to network and learn about the local IT environment.

Work areas:
Volunteers can indicate which half-days or full days they are available to work. Choose a specific work assignment based on your skills or let us assign you where you are most needed.
Registration Desk: Volunteers in the registration desk check in attendees and manage attendee badges. You need to be efficient and good at problem solving. This area gets very busy at key times so volunteers in this area need to be able to keep a cool head in a hectic environment.
Session Attendant: What a great opportunity to participate in some amazing sessions! Each session is attended by two volunteers who welcome attendees, ensure the speaker has what they need, connect the speaker with the guest introducer, distribute and collect evaluations, record attendance and communicate with the coordinator about any issues that arise. Session attendants may also need to fill in for the introdcucer in the event of an unplanned absence. Session Attendants need to be friendly and welcoming while keeping an eye on logistics like timing. Excellent communicators welcome.
Speaker Lounge Host: This is a job for an extrovert who'd like to meet the outstanding speakers presenting at ICE 2009. The Speaker Lounge is where speakers can come before and after their sessions to make last minute preparations or to unwind from their presentations. It's also a secure area, so in addition to being friendly and helpful, Lounge Hosts need to ensure the lounge is for speakers and their belongings only.
Bell Cafe Host: The Bell Cafe features a cafe/lounge style atmosphere with couches and a few cafe tables and chairs. There will be wall mounted flat screen televisions and two or three stand up computer stations for attendees to download ICE presentations. The cafe will be supported by a wireless network so people can check in on work or follow up on something they've learned in a session. Hosts in this area facilitate downloading and will undoubtedly answer questions about scheduling and locations. Are you approachable and good at sourcing information for people?
